Recently, Jiangsu Association for science and technology announced the review results of "top ten scientific and technological advances in the industry of Jiangsu Province in 2024". The "large scale low-energy reverse osmosis seawater desalination technology and equipment" declared by Professor zhangdesheng of the international water pump and system engineering technology research center was successfully selected into the top ten scientific and technological advances in the field of environmental energy.

This achievement has been continuously supported by several national major projects during the 11th five year plan, the 12th Five Year Plan and the 13th five year plan, focusing on the three fluid equipment of reverse osmosis seawater desalination system: high pressure pump, booster pump and energy recovery turbine. It has overcome the key technologies of low energy consumption and large-scale seawater desalination core fluid equipment design theory, product manufacturing and system integration, and established the first 10000 ton membrane desalination demonstration project in China, with key technical indicators reaching the international leading level. The core technology has authorized 35 invention patents from the United States, Britain, Japan and China, formulated 5 national and industrial standards, and published 2 monographs. It has been rated as one of the top ten scientific and technological advances in China's oceans in 2015, and won the world's best desalination plant award in 2023. The industrial backbone enterprises applying this achievement have increased their output value by more than 10 billion yuan in recent two years, with a market share of more than 50%. Their independent technologies and equipment have been exported to more than 10 countries and regions in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and South America.

Since 2023, Jiangsu Province has carried out the selection of "top ten scientific and technological advances in Jiangsu Province's industrial fields" every year, and carried out nomination selection around 8 industrial fields, including basic research, civil engineering, water conservancy, transportation and construction, new chemical materials and textiles, environmental energy, equipment manufacturing, modern agriculture, electronic information, biomedicine, etc. each industry field has produced no more than 10 representative scientific and technological advances. In recent years, the fluid center has carried out systematic and in-depth theoretical breakthroughs and major engineering applications around the key fluid equipment of national major strategic projects. This is the second time that the fluid center has won this honor.
